| TCI's Virtual Private Networks allow organizations to save
money by building their private networks using inexpensive shared
public transport networks, like the Internet. VPN's can be used as
a replacement for frame relay and leased lines to build site-to-site
intranet platforms. They deliver savings ranging from 20 to 70 percent
over traditional WAN costs, especially for international connections,
for which the savings are closer to 90 percent.
VPN's will allow a customer with multiple locations or partners
that subscribe to the Internet Security Services to have the traffic
between their remote sites or the sites of a trusted partner to
be encrypted. The date encrypted can be of a single service, e.g.,
mail or ftp, or of a group of services more widely defined to be
all data, which flows between them and a trusted remote site. This
service, which is based upon IPSec, for secure information interchange
between one firewall and another or tunneling hardware/software,
will eventually be able to allow a customer to elect to have a VPN
set up between themselves and a non-enterprise networking service
using complaint equipment.
Some of TCI's VPN network features include:
* Line speed data encryption standard (DES) and 3DES encryption;
network address translation (NAT); traffic management through customer
controlled class-of-service (COS) policies; remote access via dial,
DSL, ISDN, or other access methodologies.
* End-to-end encryption via client initiated Internet protocol security
(IPsec) defined routing.
* Remote workers can participate in company intranets or extranets
where ever they may be located.
* Optional anti-spoofing, intrusion detection, and additional security
mechanisms.
TCI's VPN is a cost effective, wide area network (WAN) solution
for business of all sizes. It lets you configure high-performance,
site-to-site remote access and intranet/extranet solutions in a
secure, standards-based environment.
